James Findlay – Winner of the 2010 Young Folk Awards

James Findlay walked away with the Young Folk Award title on Friday 4th December 2009. Amongst a stunning group of finalists James' amazing voice and distinctive guitar and fiddle style stood out. Aged 20 and from Dorset he comes from a family background of traditional singers with a style inspired by Nic Jones and singers such as The Watersons,   but with a stage presence all of his own.

In additional to winning the Young Folk Award this year, James was the winner in the ‘New Roots’ national competition for up-and-coming folk performers in 2008

Due to personal reasons James Findlay will not be performing at the festival.  We are delighted that Dave Wood has agreed to do the Friday night concert slot in the Carlton Theatre in place of James Findlay.   Dave is asupreme guitar player with an excellent voice and a great favourite on the local folk scene.
The Friday night concert  running order will be The Mooncoin Ceilidh Band, Dave Wood and Habbadam.

The Festival Folk Club will be upstairs at The South Pacific this year (SATURDAY  3-5pm) and unfortunately James Findlay will not be doing a guest spot so there should be time for everyone to have a go.  The MC will be Andy Clarke.

The Saturday afternoon Story with Mavis Hewitt and friends,  originally scheduled for the South Pacific,  will now be in the Carlton Theatre Bar and unfortunately we are unable to use the South Pacific on Saturday night for a session.
All other events scheduled for the South Pacific remain unchanged.
